Fresh Xplorations of pan African dance; influences from ‘Sabar’ and other West African dance forms. Improve mobility, strength, coordination and sense of rhythm - close attention is paid to preparing the body, and developing the rhythmical relationship between dance and music. Open level class.

CLASS STRUCTURE:
1. Full body warm-up using
aerobic type movement, isolations, stretches, and working closely
with the rhythm. This increases suppleness of muscles and mobility
of joints, in preparation of more challenging movements.
2. Travelling across the floor
in various combinations including jumps, skips, kicks and runs.
3. Movement phrases learnt
throughout the class are put together into a challenging routine.
Participants develop coordination, memory, sense of rhythm and understanding
of African dance.
4. Class concludes with a
cool down using breathing, stretching and some yogic influences. |
