Artist Development Programme

Artist Development is at the centre of our work as an artist-led organisation.

Through our work we offer support, and share our knowledge, to enable artists to develop their ideas and run their own projects. We also offer one-to-one bespoke advice sessions for artists and free desk space as a place to self-produce their work.

Our residency and commissioning projects offer step-change opportunity for artists at crucial points in their practice.

“Chisenhale Dance Space has long been recognised as a resource for dance, and an important part of the UK’s support system for people to research and create in [dance] and related artforms. Small place, big ambitions.” – Donald Hutera

Arts Counselling

We offer free one-to-one sessions offering advice and guidance to artists. The sessions cover a wide range of topics with members of our team and guest counsellors from specialist organisations. We also provide signposting and further support networks to the artists to grow their support networks.

Allotment

Nurturing projects where artists take the lead: In 2013, in response to conversations between members of the Artistic Community, staff and the board of trustees, a structure was formalised to enable artists and arts workers to propose activities to run in partnership with Chisenhale Dance Space. Twice a year, members of the Artistic Community are invited to offer their ideas. There is no selection process – the system is one of conversation and negotiation, finding the right way to support one another.

Hot Desk

We offer free desk space for independent artists and producers providing a valuable space for artist research and administration. They are a place to think and work in peace, in the heart of our friendly and supportive artistic environment.
