School & Community Projects

Chisenhale Dance Space runs many dance projects within schools and in partnership with community groups. As well as INSET sessions and after school clubs across our local area CDS is currently working on:

Dance Connections 2011
Chisenhale Dance Space in partnership with Dance Art Foundation are offering an innovative national dance and health training and development initiative which aims to support children living with health conditions, giving them the opportunity to work with highly experienced dance artists. This project is free to hospitals, hospices, children's services, learning/community centres and schools in Hackney and Tower Hamlets.

Transformers 2011-2012
A 2-year ELBA funded project working with 8 Primary Schools which aims to engage young people in the Olympic and Paralympic games working with approx 150+ participants weekly exploring ideas around community regeneration, sports, dance and aspiring to achieve the best you can. Each year culminates in an awards ceremony and performance at our theatre.

Thames 2011
Lots of dance activity across the borough in and out of school making young people ... nurture their dance talents! This term we have been working with Old Ford Primary School yr 2 and yr 3 children using cross curriculum development to increase their creativity through dance.  As well as sharing good practice and ideas with teachers at the school.

Healthy Borough Programme
A project that teaches 2-8 year olds about healthy lifestyles, through creative dance and fun nutritional workshops!
