About Andrew Hardwidge
Andrew Hardwidge is a choreographer and performer based in London. His practice is broad, with much of his work forming around an interest in an expanded understanding of choreography and dancing. His recent work has included but is not limited to, exhibitions, drawings, traditional theatre performances, parties, a venue, a lie, a battle, a computer game and recently Labour.
Andrew’s work has been shown at theatres including the Place, the Laban Centre, and Chisenhale Dance Space, and has been programmed in events such as Trip the Light Fantastic, Public House and Oh So Totally Rad. As a dancer and performer Andrew has worked internationally with artists such as Tino Seghal, Simon Vincenzi, Jose Vidal, Zack Winokur and recently Vera Tussing. In 2010 he was awarded a British Council International Artist Bursary to perform and teach at the opening of the Gabriel Mistral Cultural Centre in Santiago, Chile. He has a Masters Degree in Dance Theatre from Trinity Laban and his writings on dance and related arts have been featured in publications including Bellyflop Magazine, and Platform Magazine.
In 2008 Andrew established the arts venue Show Dome, with architect Christopher Burman and artist Martine Borges. It ran between 2008 and 2010 and through Show Dome they produced, created and organised events exploring ways of working across their respective practises. Show Dome participated in the Hackney Wicked International Arts Festival in 2009 and 2010 with Live Conflict and Ghon Jumbo and produced numerous other events including Infinite Potential, Furniture Show, a Clothes Swap and Trip the Light Fantastic.
In 2010 Andrew was invited to become Associate Artist at Chisenhale Dance space, during this time he has undertaken practical and theoretical research into modal production of dance and choreography, written a thesis about Beauty and produced a three act evening length show called Battlestar Galacitca: Live featuring a collaboration with writer and blogger Olivia Fairweather ( www.magnetickidliv.com ), the presentation of an edited version of the computer game Dance Dance Revolution and a dance about Angels.
