About Florence Peake
Florence Peake is a London based Dance Artist and creates work of an interdisciplinary nature. Originally training in dance and a background in painting, her practice now use’s artists’ materials, film, text and movement where site and the placement of performance are important factors.
She has been creating her own work independently and in collaboration with other artists since 1997, which have been performed nationally and internationally. Recent work includes STUPID, South Hill Park, Paper Portraits, National Portrait Gallery, Secrets and Other Pass Times ,Toynbee Studios, Valediction, National Review of Live Art 2009, The Bird Trilogy, Prague Fringe Festival, the solo Eight Moments Wake Me , Laban/ Hackney Empire/San Francisco fringe festival, Duets for Objects, The Place, Elsewhere North Carolina and Christchurch Spitalfields.
As a performer she has worked with a wide variety of filmmakers, Choreographers, Performance artists and Visual artists; Mirranda Pennell, Minnie Wieze, Serena Korda, Eddie Peake, Gaby Agis, Nicola Conibere, Joe Moran, Jane Turner, Robin Deacon and Gary Stevens.
She is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique, and has taught dance, performance and improvisation extensively at Independent Dance, DanceXchange in Birmingham, Dance Mission San Francisco, Academy for cultural studies in Riga Latvia, International Workshop Festival in London, Central School of Speech and Drama and currently lectures at Coventry University and Surrey University.
