SOUP KITCHEN FOR THE SOUL

Hosted by Catherine Hoffman

Come and share soup, make bread, maybe even sing together whilst chatting about your lacks and what you have enough of so we can find ways to mutually share resources. Swap survival tips with each other, ideas, advice and even practical resources/links etc order to help. This is an opportunity to come together to talk and create strategies at a time of disparity as well as economic hardship. Going right back to basics let’s see how we can pull through together.
You need not bring anything but yourself. And maybe some cake.

CDS member Catherine Hoffmann AKA StenchWench creates a mixture of staged pieces and interactive one-to-one performances across a range of contexts. She explores the intersection between performance art, theatre, humour and music. She has been touring her solo show Free Lunch with the StenchWench in the UK – a personal account of shame and poverty. She collaborates with Florence Peake for SEX MUSIC and Wombmanifesting kitchen and ‘These Tender Alms’ with Lesley Ewen for SPILL festival in October 2016. She has created participatory projects with Home Live Art for the last five years.

She performs internationally with Lundahl and Seitl and she will be leading a LADA DIY ‘Human flea circus’ residency for artists at The Arc in Stockton, September 2017.

The Coffee Mornings at Chisenhale Dance Space were initiated by Gillie Kleiman, an independent dance artist and proud member of the artistic community around the organisation, as a way in which dance-makers and -doers could talk about the relationships between issues of production, public policy and the politics of the cultural industries and the artwork that they are making and doing. The events are open to all artists and arts practitioners, whether or not they associate themselves with Chisenhale. We sit around the kitchen table and eat and talk. There have always been people there who know each other as well as those who don’t. There is a loosely-held format which includes a writing-up of the facilitators’ thoughts after the meeting Initially Gillie started off each time. Now the Coffee Mornings are led by different dance artists or artists’ groups each time and from 2015 Gille handed over the running to Hamish MacPherson, also a member of Chisenhale Dance Space.
