Making Mythical Creatures 2
6th & 7th April, 2-6pm PERFORMANCE STUDIO
Lead by: James Morgan and Eleanor Sikorski
£50/£30 CDS members
Two half days of making and becoming mythical creatures. In this workshop, participants will design, craft and transform themselves into new fantastical characters. We will lead a series of performative exercises to enable play and experimentation – involving dressing up, moving and speaking. This workshop is part of ongoing research into the process of assuming a role – opening the door to altered-forms, alien-bodies and hybrid-species. We are interested in the temporary idea of ‘trying on’ – assuming, embodying, discarding and repeating – using improvisation and our new, changed bodies to create unique physical languages. At the end of the workshop you will take away a video portrait of your Mythical Creature. No previous making experience is required. Materials and costumes will be provided but please feel free to bring your own.
About Lead Artists:
James Morgan and Eleanor Sikorski, both choreographers, have recently found common ground in their fascination with dressing up. James is currently researching DRAG ON, a new solo performance in which he becomes a dragon/drag queen hybrid. He has also recently discovered the world of make-up. Eleanor, a self-taught dressmaker, often makes her own costumes and props for her performances and music videos.
