Making Mythical Creatures

Making Mythical Creatures

8th November 2016. 10am – 6pm

Led by: James Morgan and Eleanor Sikorski

£40 :Tickets

A day of making and becoming mythical creatures. In this workshop and film shoot, participants will be the stars, extras, costume designers and directors of a new fantasy epic. We will lead a series of exercises to enable play and experimentation – involving making costumes and props, dressing up, moving and speaking.

This workshop is part of ongoing research into in the process of assuming a role – opening the door to fantasies and alter-ego. We are interested in the temporary idea of ‘trying on’ – assuming, embodying, discarding and repeating.

James and Eleanor will use the footage to create a short film to be screened as part of ‘Drag Beasts’, a performance evening at CDS on 18th November.

Materials and costumes will be provided but please feel free to bring your own.

About the facilitators:

James and Eleanor, both choreographers, have recently found common ground in their fascination with dressing up. James is currently researching DRAG ON, a new solo performance in which he becomes a dragon/drag queen hybrid. He has also recently discovered the world of make-up. Eleanor, a self-taught dressmaker, often makes her own costumes and props for her performances and music videos.
