Yoga integrates elements of movement, breathing and sitting in stillness. By that, it can positively affect the body, mind and soul.

In this candlelit Hatha class, you will experience a moving meditation that brings the element of mindfulness into the practice. With longer holds in each posture, this session allows you to quieten the mind and use the breath to facilitate alignment. The atmosphere created by candlelight further enables calmness, as the dimmed light can have a soothing effect on the nervous system. Apart from that, we strengthen the body and open up space in areas of tension.

The sessions start with meditative exercises, followed by breathwork and asanas (postures). Each Monday evening ends with a guided relaxation. Hathayoga suits people new to yoga the same as students with an already established practice.

About your workshop instructor

Anja has been practising Yoga since 2007. Over the years, Yoga became more and more essential to her. She did not only notice that its physical benefits balanced a desk job. Furthermore, the regular practice resulted in calming the mind, and by that, enhanced the capacity to focus. In order to share these physical and mental benefits, she became a teacher at the beginning of 2018. Since then, she has been facilitating sessions, firstly in Germany, and, since 2021, full-time in London. Besides Hathayoga, Anja specialises in (creative) Vinyasa, restorative, yin and pre/ and postnatal yoga.

To deepen her knowledge of yoga, Anja enjoys participating in courses and trainings. For example, in 2023 she finished an MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation at SOAS/ University of London. This program sheds light on the philosophical and historical developments of Yoga and Meditation throughout history.
