Before History, We Danced

These classes start with exercises from Eastern performance training. Encouraging us to listen to our bodies, the space, and the group. Inspired by what we feel we will dance together. Searching for movement that gives us the feeling of something larger than ourselves.

The class is open to bodies of all experiences, including disabled and non-disabled artists. It will challenge each of us to dance beyond our limits in ways that inspire, support and collaborate.

‘The prehistoric ritual dancer did not believe in her god(s), she knew them, because, at the height of group ecstasy, they filled her with their presence.’

Will Dickie facilitates dance, theatre and live art, using 12 years of international performer training experience – including the Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Butoh Dance and Kalaripayattu. Most recently he has collaborated across disability, age and experience, creating performances to see and feel the things he can’t explain.
