Facilitated OPENLAB with Charlie Ashwell

Facilitated OPENLAB
24 November
Facilitator: Charlie Ashwell

Research Studio | 10am-1pm | £7 suggested donation

Charlie is a dance witch. She would like to do some dance-witching. With you. For you.

Dance-witching or witch-dancing is about doing something with dance, for “witch” the outcome, we’ll agree for now, is always the best possible outcome. Dance-witching or witch-dancing is a process of acting in and upon the world “witch” is not interested in the production of stuff “witch” can fail or succeed, but “witch” is more interested in the blind hope and thrill of doing stuff “witch” rocks our collective boat. I call this approach magic. Witch-dancing, or dance-witching, wants to increase 1000-fold the possibilities of relating to one another, to our desires, to what remains of our flesh and our decomposing-recomposing cyborg-spirit-brains and ultimately to the whole world (urgent!) in a way entirely committed to the possibility that all possible outcomes will become the best possible outcome, through collective effort.

Bring your hang-ups and your hopes; your heavy baggage and utopic notions. Bring the chips on your shoulders and the urges in your gut; bring your subversive femininities (wherever you buried them), the itches in your index fingers and the dances in your arse(nal)s. We’re gonna WITCH.

Sessions are open to any performers: dancers, musicians, actors and anyone interested in presence and awareness in performance.
Sessions can be facilitated by any participant of OPENLAB. If you’d like to facilitate one of these sessions in the future send an email to Antonio de la Fe: antonio.delafeguedes@gmail.com

The sessions function in a pay-what-you-can contribution basis to cover expenses and as an incentive for the facilitator of the session. We recommend a £5 contribution for the 2-hour long sessions (‘White Canvas’ sessions) and £7 contribution for the 3-hour long sessions (‘Facilitated OL’ sessions).
