2018 marks the 35th anniversary of Chisenhale Dance Space being incorporated as an organisation. 35 years as a home for experimentation and radicalism in dance and performance, and formerly the hotbed of the New Dance movement.
But what is radical in 2018?
Thanks to generous investment from Arts Council England, we are pleased to announce New New Dance Radicals, an anniversary season for Autumn 2018, seeking to re-ignite our radical spirit through Member-led presentations, guest performances and new commissions.
Today we announce building on the success of Fiver Fridays, Future Fridays is our new regular programme of projects by Chisenhale Dance Members, in our iconic Performance Studio. This autumn there’s work led by Jo Cork, Christopher Matthews, Ingvild Marstein Olsen, Flora Wellesley Wesley, Vanessa Macaulay, Colleen Bartley, Thierry Alexandre and Magda Tuka (see full programme below).
And in the next in our series of guest performances, Chisenhale Dance founder-Member Anna Furse returns to our where it all began with her haunting new solo An Anatomy Act, with her company Athletes of the Heart.
All tickets this year are tiered so it pays to book in advance, and tickets are available direct from CDS’ new online store. Book early for the cheapest tickets, join us for a drink, and see something new - now.
Finally, watch this space for an open call for two new commissions celebrating collaborations between different generations of artists and Chisenhale Dance Members (made possible thanks to a donation from The Choreographer’s Gallery Trust), and another special guest performance to be announced.
