Mary Helen Young joins CDS as General Manager
Following the recruitment process for what was originally advertised as a Studios and Programme Manager, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Helen Young as General Manager. Mary Helen started last week, working full time to lead on studio operations, earned income streams and venue-based programmes and completes the core team.
Here’s some more about Mary Helen:
Mary Helen Young has supported the work of international performing arts companies and has project managed diverse cultural initiatives over the span of her 17-year career in the arts. She most recently served as Operations Manager for Visiting Arts, overseeing capacity-building programmes supporting micro and small creative businesses and independent artists in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific. She has also worked as a consultant with specialisations in EU funding and business planning, working with clients such as British Council, Birmingham City University, Music Tech Fest, Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature, and the Grove Theatre.
Mary Helen began her professional career in Washington, DC working with the Smithsonian Associates and Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in production, operations and marketing. She holds an MA in Cultural Policy and Management from City University London, and a Bachelor of Music with a minor in economics from Vanderbilt University.
