New staff join the team

Sam Burkett and Renée Bellamy joined the CDS team in January earlier this year. 

Sam (they/them) is a choreographer, performer, and dance educator who works primarily in contemporary dance, physical theatre, and comedy. They have been an artist-Member at CDS since 2019, and joined the staff team as Participation Coordinator in 2022.

They are a choreographer, performer, and dance educator working with a huge range of people from professional dancers to children to actors. Their choreography has been shown across the UK and in the US including at the 2018 Houston Fringe Festival (USA) where their solo, Crop Tops won the Best of Anything Goes Award. Their work lies predominantly in contemporary dance, physical theatre, and comedy.

They support Producer: Participation, Jessica Richards in delivering CDS’ children’s classes programme, making way for innovative practices that answer the needs of local communities and families. You can contact Sam via email: sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk

Renée Bellamy (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, facilitator and producer. She joined CDS as Operations and Marketing Coordinator in 2022. Her  artistic = practice is driven by a curiosity in movement (of images, of bodies), community and documentation. She primarily works with choreography, dance, film and photography. She completed the Postgraduate Diploma Community Dance (Distinction) at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2021 where she received the Choreography prize.

In her role, she supports the day-to-day management of Chisenhale Dance Space’s studios and premises while also coordinating bespoke space hire bookings and supporting people’s access to the space, and researching and strategising for the Marketing team.
