A dynamic released based class – attending to imagination & sensation, using improvisation, release and somatic techniques to guide us into a deeper joy and sensitivity in moving. The class begins by awakening physical awareness as we play between set movement and individual exploration, giving the opportunity to enhance our sense of grounding, expansion and musicality. Focus is given to our movement potential as we play with our embodied desires to move with generosity within ourselves, others and the space we encounter.
About the Instructor:
Alexander Miles is a dance artist and performer collaborating internationally, working in theatre, movement and dance. He works with visual artists, designers, choreographers, and dance companies. Some of these collaborations are long standing and include artists such as Daniel Linehan, Collectif ÈS, Joe Moran & Yuval Pick. In making, he is drawn to working outside, often in nature, and his practice articulates how the sensorial body meets landscape.
Alongside his performative career he works as a massage therapist. Trained in various forms of therapeutic and healing bodywork practices, healing for him, is a form of heightened listening – It is through attentive touch and contact that we can deepen our sensitivity of listening to engage fully and positively.
This investigation continues through his dance and performance work but also guides his contemporary, improvisation, and somatic movement teachings.
