An energetic, intermediate-level class designed to challenge dancers both physically and artistically. Class begins with a full-body warmup combining yoga, Pilates and technical jazz exercises. Centre and travelling combinations include influences from Horton, Limón and authentic American Jazz. Melody’s classes culminate with expressive and innovative choreography drawing from her own artistic practice. Continue to strive for excellence in an encouraging atmosphere. Concession rates are available to the following groups, proof required on the first day of class:
– Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Disability Living Allowance
– Full-time students (in possession of valid NUS or ISIC cards)
About the Instructor:
American choreographer Melody Squire is known for creating visually stimulating work as well as her innate storytelling ability. Her versatility across dance genres makes her a choreographer in high demand. Melody often forms long-term collaborations with clients who consider her warm nature, efficiency and expertise problem solving skills highly valued.
Melody’s recent credits include: Selfridges, The Corrs, UK Music Video Awards, Fabletics, World Class Awards (Johannesburg, SA), So You Think You Can Dance UK, and the Dead Moon 3D which was nominated for Best Music Video and Best Short at the LA 3D Film Festival (USA).
Melody is the founder, choreographer and artistic director of Sol Dans Company, an award winning contemporary dance company that has successful produced narrative dance films in partnership with Great Lake Films and Arts Council England. She is a Chisenhale Dance Member.
