Shakti Orion
Residency Project Notes:
During my residency I will further develop an existing piece called Zebra Cross. It has previously been performed as part of Drunken Chorus platform, and at PULSE Theatre Festival in Ipswich.
Zebra Cross explores Zebras in an anthropomorphic way, using the Zebra’s herd as a metaphor for a more caring society; it is a solo piece that uses comedy, dance, objects manipulation, text, sound and audience participation, which is quite a broad range of elements and I want to look at the necessity, integrity and structure of all of them to make the piece work and be unify and not a set of different elements.
I have not visited this piece for long time, even thought I quite like it, I relish the opportunity to re-visit the piece and bring it back to life.
About Shakti:
I am a choreographer, performance and visual artist, originally from Spain, and based in London for the last ten years. I studied at Trinity Laban Centre and at Goldsmith’s College. Over the last few years I have been working at the fringe of dance and visual arts; my practice moves between live art, dance, installations, video, photography, painting and collages. I also work as community dance artist in integration art projects. In my practice I have been exploring and rising questions about anxiety, existence/ mortality, identity and its ongoing fabrication.
