COVID-19 Update:

Chisenhale Dance Space is now accepting bookings for hires starting Tuesday 1st September 2020. Despite increased operational costs, to support the sector, we are freezing our prices and are now taking reservations for block bookings ahead of funding confirmation.

We will be introducing limited time slots to enable cleaning between each booking and allow us to monitor the building’s maximum capacity. There will be staggered access times for hirers to enter the building safely. Unfortunately, we will not be able to operate by-the-hour studio hire for the currently foreseeable future. Please find the daily space hire time slots available below:

Performance Studio: 

  • 9am – 1pm 
  • 2pm – 6pm 
  • Or 9am – 6pm (a full day hire)

To accommodate social distancing the maximum capacity for the Performance Studio is 10 people.

Research Studio:

  • 9.15am – 1.15pm
  • 2.15pm – 6.15pm 
  • Or 9am – 6pm (a full day hire)

To accommodate social distancing the maximum capacity for the Research Studio is 4 people.

Bookings outside of these times may be possible by arrangement.

How to book studio space? 

We are temporarily suspending the online booking system and asking all hirers to send their requests via email to spacehire@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk. CDS would also like to encourage artists, companies and producers to pencil future studio hires, whilst awaiting funding. 

If you wish to book studio space outside of these time slots, please send a request to spacehire@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk.

If you are interested in using the studios in August, please email daniel@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk. This may be available on a case-by-case basis, while we adapt our operations, dependent on staffing.

Covid- 19 Space Usage Protocol

  • Arrive and Exit at my allotted time (maximum of 5 mins early)
  • Arrive with my team/bubble/group, if possible
  • Only use the studio I have been assigned
  • CDS acknowledges that dance is not an activity that is always compatible with social distancing, but distance should be maintained wherever possible.
  • We ask that you work safely, with care and clear, prior consent from any of your collaborators’, taking into account their personal situations and risk levels.
  • CDS’s advice on social distancing while dancing includes: 
    • Using 2m floor mark-up to aid social distancing where possible
    • Using side-by-side, back-to-back spatial formations whenever possible.
    • Reducing the number of people each person has contact with by using fixed teams and partnering. 
    • Collaborators only attend rehearsals when required by allocating call times.  
    • Organising and designing repertoire and rehearsals to avoid situations where performers cannot socially distance, wherever feasible.
    • Reducing any time that individuals are not able to maintain social distancing.
    • Use the space responsibly avoiding activities which could result in injury
  • Use cleaning wipes provided to clean the stereo system after use. 
  • Remove all personal waste from the building. 
  • To bring as few personal items as possible.

Booking & Cancellation Policy:

This is an adapted policy intended to balance and support the needs of both CDS and independent artists. Starting August 2020 until further notice, and may be subject to change

Single bookings: less than 1 day booking

We accept ‘penciled’ reservations for all bookings in advance. (See below)

We require full payment for your reservation 2 weeks prior to confirm your booking.

Block bookings: more than 1 day booking

A “Block booking” is defined as at least 2 days booked over a one-week period.

We accept ‘penciled’ reservations for all bookings in advance.

We require a 10% deposit 4 weeks prior to confirm your booking. This is non-refundable but is transferable.

We require full payment for your reservation 2 weeks prior.

Reservations

We understand that in the current context, situations can change and that funding may not be confirmed – but that we all need to plan.

CDS would therefore like to encourage artists, companies and producers to pencil future studio hires, whilst awaiting funding.

We will operate a 1st reserve and 2nd reserve system for all bookings, and ask you to keep in touch as your situation changes, and to make payment as soon as possible.

Bookings are only confirmed when full payment has been made.

We will notify hirers 2 weeks in advance if a booking is confirmed or becomes available.

We may contact hirers of an unpaid reservation for clarity on their bookings. If we have not received a reply within 24 hrs, we reserve the right to take another booking.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that there are circumstances where changes may need to happen at the last minute (notably infection or requirement for self-isolation)

CDS is not able to offer any refunds for confirmed bookings unless the building is forced to close.

Credit for a future booking will be offered if booking is cancelled less than 2 weeks in advance.
