About CHIAROSCURO
CHIAROSCURO is an emotional & powerful dance performance by Taiwanese dance artist Hsing Ya, set on the beautiful island of Taiwan formally known as Formosa, an area steeped in multicultural history. Using contemporary dance, balloon; paint, creative live music; a blend of eastern traditional Taiwanese folk dance and western contemporary music, Hsing Ya seeks to unearth her roots and to express her personal experience of an east/west culture clash.

About Hsing Ya Wu
Hsing Ya is an award-winning dance choreographer and professional dancer; and a member of Chisenhale Dance Space Artist Community.
Hsing Ya has been funded 12 times from Arts Council England (UK), National Culture and Arts Foundation and Ministry of Culture (Taiwan).
Her global reach includes The American Dance Festival, UK, Taiwan, New York and Paris artistic programs. Her brilliance graced London’s The Place for Resolution 2022 and Resolution 2019.
With a rich portfolio, she has been part of Ella Mesma Company since 2016 and performed at esteemed venues including Sadler’s Wells (London).
Hsing Ya’s impact spans Dance Forum Taipei Company, WC Dance company, Feng Dance Company and Appetite Dance Productions. MFA Choreography degree from Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA), her expertise is unparalleled.
In 2023, Hsing Ya shines as residency choreographer at Paris’ Cité internationale des arts.
