Chisenhale Summer of Art Festival is buzzing with family fun activities including FREE events with everything from dance workshops, drawing sessions, play activities, storytelling and live performances for every child at any age and their families.
Come along on Saturday 11th September from 11:30am -5pm and see what surprises you come across as you explore the newly established Chisenhale Learn + Play + Create outdoor playground.
This event is the grand finale of a series of creative art workshops for the local Bow community, produced by Chisenhale Dance Space, Chisenhale Gallery & Chisenhale Studios over 7 weeks from Monday 26th July – Saturday 11th September 2021.
Pre booking is advised for each of the workshops, however there are lots of activities you can drop in and join throughout the day.

Take part in a FREE outdoor family laughter workshop & performance with dancer Flora Wellesley Wesley & clown Bienam Perez. Together we will go on a fun journey of playful, practical explorations to wake up our senses and tune in to the radiant life all around us.

Join Visual Artist and Poet Charlotte Mew on another journey to create a shared story …. Assembling found words and creating sentences, cutting up letters and planting on lolly sticks to be stitched ALL together in order to create a NEW narrative.

Artist Maria Teresa Ortoleva leads an experimental drawing workshop for children their parents. The session will involve play and improvisation in the creation of a collaborative artwork made by you and your child/ren together.
V&A Museum of Childhood – Summer of Play
Drop in sessions from 12pm – 4:30pm (no booking needed)
Join the V&A Museum of Childhood team at Chisenhale Play + Learn + Create Space. Use our large-scale play kits to construct a huge tower, a boat to sail away on, a den to hide in, or create anything you choose! An array of materials developed by design and play experts PLAY BUILD PLAY and sculptor Matt Shaw will also be available as you use your imagination to be creative and have fun together.
Chisenhale Primary School PTA will hosting a bake sale to raise money to continue to support free accessible activities for local children and families. It’s time to indulge in a sweet treat or tempting savoury snack to refuel.
