Creative Lab – Film and Dance Performance

Creative Lab – Film and Dance Performance

Saturday 9th December
11am – 2pm
£12 (£8 CDS Members) Tickets link below

Lead by: Jo Cork

This 3 hour workshop will begin with activities to help tune our sense of vision and explore ways to frame what we see and what we want to see, and will draw attention to the choices we make and the artistic intentions driving those decisions. It will then continue as a Creative Laboratory in which participants will work individually or in small groups playing with filming, choreography for camera and projection to explore how these elements of practice might impact the work they wish to make or are interested in.

Throughout, we may create mini-forums in order for participants to discuss and reflect on others’ and our own thoughts and findings to create an environment of exchange and development. The foyer will be available to continue these conversations after the workshop should participants wish to talk a little longer.

The studio and building itself and the surrounding areas (weather permitting) will be available as spaces in which to play and explore… CDS is situated close to the canal, Victoria Park, Mile End Park and various other interesting spaces!

Please bring your own devices; cameras, camcorders, or camera phones – and any other equipment you may wish to use.

In addition, there will be a projector available (along with a VGA lead and flash adapter), a Mini-HDMI/HDMI cable to 3RCA cable, and a small projector screen. TBC – a pocket projector with built in media-player may also be available to us for additional play with projection. Depending on the compatibility of your camera devices, it may be possible to play with live projection should you wish to do so.

This workshop is open to those interested in working with film, dance and video and performance.

Please wear/bring layers to adjust to the temperature of the studio as you work.
