Eleven Farrer House
Species of Spaces

This evening of dance includes a performance of Species of Spaces by Eleven Farrer House and a screening of Charlotte Darbyshire’s film ‘the lily the rose’.
As a catalogue of many choreographic situations, Species of Spaces does not designate one single fixed piece but rather a collection of countless possible variation. Species of Spaces is a customisable dance work, each performance is bespoke. Poetic portrait inspired by dance artists Kate Marsh and Welly O’Brien’s friendship and work but also by Violet and Daisy Hilton, Baroque performers and conjoined twins from the 1930’s, ‘The lily the rose’ captures their performance, shared stories, bodies and fascinatingly frank attitudes to disability. Filmed by Tony Wadham, sound score by Jules Maxwell.
Projects carried out by quartet Eleven Farrer House include site-specific performances, theatre work and dance on film. Initiation and authorship shift from project to project, facilitating an interchangeable structure for constituent members. Individual creativity is supported and nourished through collective exchanges; providing the ground for actualisation of bespoke works and investigation of practice.
