Roadhouse returns to Chisenhale Dance Space, its London home, for another evening of improvisation. A line-up of brilliant dance artists will use movements, words and sounds to create a series of one-off performances. No plan, no structure, just open improvisation.


Roadhouse is a regular night of improvised performance hosted by Elenor Sikorski and Lewys Holt. They both perform each night as the Roadhouse House Band. The night concludes with all the artists coming together for a spontaneous group improvisation. A guest writer will document each night live on paper, providing proof that something actually happened (see

Eleanor and Lewys think that improvisation is political. They see that there is lots of improvisation about, but no obvious place to do it or watch it. This is a space for artists to practice performing and for audiences to practice watching.

Eleanor Sikorski and Lewys Holt are dance artists based between London and Nottingham.

Eleanor is a dancer and choreographer whose solo work spans dance, comedy, cabaret, music and film. She works as a dancer for several choreographers and is one third of ‘Nora’, a trio of dancers who curate and commission choreographers to make work for them to perform. She studied contemporary dance (LCDS 2006-10).

Lewys is an interdisciplinary dance artist. His practice, while focusing on dance, spans comedy, visual arts and devised theatre. His dance practice is concerned with release and improvisation, taking influences from Skinner releasing technique, Open Source Forms and Contact improvisation. He has worked with prominent international artists including New Art Club, Simone Mousset, Rosemary Lee and Christopher Owen. He studied dance at De Montfort University (2009-13).
