Developing skills in the dance sector by live sharing.
Diagonal Lab (by Diagonal Dance) invites everyone working in and around the dance sector to create a collective response to a dance work you’ve never experienced before, in a specific field, aiming to develop skills through dialogue.
In this first series, we’re exploring how to plan and implement marketing campaigns.
How does it work?
In the evening, participants will have the chance to watch two short-length performances and draft collectively a response on how to develop a brief marketing strategy for those works. The session will be moderated by experts in the field, but the group is challenged to share their ideas and expertise.
The result?
A live insight and collective brainstorm on how to better develop marketing strategies to promote contemporary dance performance. At the end of the session, participants will get a structured marketing plan that they can use as a guideline or inspiration for their own work.
Who is it for?
Freelance dance artists who need to promote their work; producers who aim to develop their marketing skills; and other professionals working in the dance sector who would like to get new insights on dance marketing, and how to better promote dance works.
The session is free of charge. Spaces are limited, so booking in advance is essential.
Open Call for Diagonal Lab: show your work in progress and get a marketing plan for your work.
We’re looking for performances to be presented as part of Diagonal Lab’s Scratch Night on Thursday, 18 April. If you’d like to share your work (or an excerpt of your work) in an intimate gathering and get live feedback on how to best market your work, this is the perfect opportunity.
We’re looking for a performance/short sharing/ excerpt of a work no longer than 10 minutes. Please note we will only be able to provide a studio sharing atmosphere, with access to sound PA system and minimal, one-state lighting for this event.
If you’re interested in sharing your performance during Diagonal Lab, please send us a bio, a description of the work you’d like to share, and a short paragraph stating why you would like to learn more about marketing.
