WTF Thursdays: Departure – Conversation about Death and Rituals

Masumi Saito (she/her)

Masumi Saito is a movement artist, mother, and choreographer. She creates film works and live performances influenced by nature, spirits, and the Japanese way of being. She has presented her work at renowned venues worldwide, including HOME Manchester, ICA, Jerwood Space, and Kanazawa 21st Century Museum. The Nakanojo Biennale in Japan has commissioned her five times. At the heart of her creative exploration lies a profound inquiry into the relationship between self and surroundings. She delves into the depths of inner being with grace and authenticity, inviting audiences on a journey of introspection and self-discovery.

An-Ting (she/her)

An-Ting 安婷 is a versatile artist who thrives in piano, electronic compositions, and various other forms of artistic expression. She has led productions including HOME X (nominated for UK Theatre Awards, presented/co-commissioned by Barbican, Oxford Contemporary Music, Theatre Royal York and Cambridge Junction), CAN X Two Temple Place: Digital Exhibition and Immersive Performance (Arts Council England’s Digital Culture Award – Storytelling), Lao Can Impression (Purcell Room, National Theater Taiwan) and Bats and Beats (Southbank’s Soundstate Festival, Shanghai tour). Between 2018 and 2023, she led the National Portfolio Organisation Kakilang, supporting new wors by East and Southeast Asian artists. She has a PhD and MMus from the Royal Academy of Music.

Chairs and pillows will be throughout the space and a quiet space will be available.
