Part skill swap, part community building, flex your devising muscles in a low stakes and welcoming environment.

Part skill swap, part community building, a devising jam is a way for artists to flex their creative muscles in a low stakes and welcoming environment.

This session will involve:

sharing devising exercises
testing out techniques
making space for any ideas you want to test out in a low-risk environment.

Anyone who wishes to join and devise with fellow artists is welcome to do so even if you don’t have exercises to share; the most important part is to come together and enjoy an evening of creative community.

All skill levels are welcome!

About the Host

Megan Brewer (she/her)

I am a theatre director, deviser, fundraiser, producer – basically any -er/or that gets the job done! It’s important that my work is innovative, compelling and rooted in contemporary issues – though that doesn’t mean I shy away from playing with the fantastical as a way of exploring those topics!

My process is highly collaborative, drawing from devised and community theatre techniques – at the heart of all my work is a sense of ensemble. It’s often physical as well, but I love new text as much as I love moving. The most important thing is that it all comes from ENSEMBLE as I love collaborating more than anything in this world.

I’m also the Co-Artistic Director of Halfpace Theatre, a migrant-led company supporting new and devised work by underrepresented artists.

I like being a bit of a jack of all trades and working in many genres (from musicals to new plays to Shakespeare to devising) but if I had to pick a favourite…physical theatre would be it.
