Stepan and Mariia will guide you through the basics of folk dances from Moldova, Ukraine, Greece, Russia, Spain, and more.

Join us to celebrate the diversity and unity of folk traditions in a vibrant and engaging experience where you can feel the connection between people around the world through dance.

About the Hosts

Mariia Litvin (she/her) & Stepan Kozhaev (he/him)

Mariia and Stepan are professional dancers with extensive experience. Immersed in the dance industry from a young age, they received ballet training and pursued their education in the Performing Arts Department at the Bolshoi Theatre School, earning Bachelor’s degrees. Their professional stage experience includes performing with professional companies, including six years with the Igor Moiseyev Ballet, where they mastered the global folk dances of numerous nationalities. Their performances have taken them to many countries worldwide. Stepan is also an award winner of the dance competition Collective East Movement and History for “Kalmyk Dance.” As their careers evolved, Mariia and Stepan transitioned to contemporary dance upon moving to London in 2022, where they found their calling at this stage of their journey. Both are actively involved in the creative process of choreography. They are open-minded individuals who value the contribution of people to the arts and strive to present dance not only as a form of high art but also as an essential experience for everyone.
