WTF Thursdays: Queer Salon #2 with Claudia Palazzo

Join Claudia Palazzo for an informal evening of work-in-progress queer performance.

This salon-style, low-fi performance evening is a place to witness the early development of work by brilliant queer artists in the community.

Featuring works by Cameron Sinclair Harris, Jay Yule, Posey Mehta and Fauve Alice

CDS is a place for DIY, messy, non-traditional and uncategorisable practices, and this night will be no exception. Emphasis on the mess…

Doors open at 7pm, performances start at 7:30. There will be a donation bar and the lounge will be available to chill.

After the performances we’ll hold a space for gentle feedback, according to the artist’s desires/needs.

About the Artists

Posey Mehta is an “unhinged” (Ed Fringe Review) newcomer to the alternative comedy and cabaret scene, whose work balances playful audience interaction with sometimes intense physicality to explore fatness and queerness.

Her debut solo show was one of Ed Fringe 2022’s Best Rated Shows (British Comedy Guide), and transferred to Soho Theatre and the Pleasance. As their drag queen alter-ego, Mitzi Fitz, they has performed at nights including Fool’s Moon, the Enby Show, Troy Club, Weird Wood and Riposte.

They’ll be trying a new drag king act, Huge Heffer: a big fat playboy cow. Expect good, clean* bovine fun.

*None of this will be clean, but we’re hoping bits of it are good.

Cameron Sinclair Harris is a performer/writer/idiot from Nottingham, currently based and causing havoc in South London. A graduate of the Soho Theatre’s Comedy Labs Plus development programme, they adore whimsy, silliness and chaotic serenity, creating universes out of shoe-string budgets and using outlandish set-pieces to comment on intimate subject matter.

They will present their debut solo odyssey, PLANETS!!! One queer deviant plays all eight planets in the solar system. Unhinged silliness that will leave you forever stargazing.

Jay Yule works as a dance performer, clown and maker. They work regularly with artists Jo Fong, Marisa Carnesky, J Neve Harrington, Sarah Blanc and Sarah Fahie as well as Theo Clinkard, Heidi Rustgaard and Luca Silvestrini in a variety of venues from the Royal Opera House mainstage to the sticky floors of the Dalston queer club circuit.

They will be performing a 5 minute cabaret style drag king act. Gay Gordon may seem like your average flying Scotsman but he is in fact a key figure in Scotland’s fight for trans rights.

Fauve Alice is a performance artist and filmmaker whose work explores themes of desire, care, violence, and memory. She centres play and pleasure in her practice, creating spaces which are led by process rather than outcome. She’s interested in areas of knowledge including; somatic knowledge of the body, spirituality and rituals in secular societies, and creating commons spaces of change and transformation.
