WTF Thursdays: Touching Words

Carolyn Roy (she/they) – a dancer and writer with an improvisation practice that explores social and philosophical ideas using somatic practices (such as authentic movement, experiential anatomy, body weather and skinner releasing technique). I use words as soundings in space when I teach and when I make work. Struggles with conventional writing patterns have led me to explore alternatives – collage, appropriation, invisible, illegible, fragmented writing, mark-making, nonsensical … I am certain that amongst the amazing members of Chisenhale there are people who write, and who write differently. I hope some of you will come and share your ways with words.

Savannah Theis (she/her) – I’m an artist, Processwork facilitator and trainee therapist living in London. Devising and drawing on improvisational techniques from a range of fields, including group dialogue, drawing, writing, choreography, somatic practices and the healing arts, I develop perception exercises exploring how different forms of sensorial attention alter how we relate to ourselves and our worlds. Often collaborating and co-creating settings for participation, I’m interested in communal learning processes and the conditions facilitating how we speak, listen, move and make sense together.
