Join us for the final of four evenings as part of our WTF: Greenhouse Takeover series! This is a chance to get an early insight into 8 artists processes.
‘Greenhouse’ is a 6 month long funded, bespoke development programme for eight Activators from our Artist Community who are Global Majority, and/or Disabled / Neurodivergent. It is primarily for artists who have the beginnings of an idea, project, production, or concept but need the creative support, skills development and time to help kickstart it.
Artists in the cohort have come together to co-host an evening each where they share a glimpse into their practice and projects, using the evening as a step on the journey rather than as a destination. Crucially, the evening is not about sharing finished work – it is about opening up the process and inviting others in to observe, experience and contribute. They might choose to share via a workshop, performance or discussion – no two evenings will be the same and every evening will have two artists / projects!
As with all WTF Thursday evenings, these events are FREE – but booking is essential!
The eight Greenhouse artists are: Valerie Ebuwa, Mary Price-O’Connor, Nya Bardouille, Zoe Tankard Bowkett, Lene Vollhardt, Ashley Lim, Sheyamali Sudesh, and Elizabeth Chan.
Part 1: Hyperacusis
Can you ever hear what another person is hearing?
How would you describe the sound of this sequence to someone with “hyperacusis” (an audio processing disorder)?
one attempt:
“Gentler than a white dove whose silken plumage brush your hips incidentally as a cause of a temporary spatial disorientation.”
I’ll be presenting the research of “Hyperacusis”, with support of the miraculous two dancers Imke Felicitas Gerhardt (pictured) and Maxine Segalowitz.

“Hyperacusis” means “sensitive hearing”, its a disorder that causes you to hear artifacts in drone frequencies.
Hyperacusis is about how muscle tissue, membrane, hormones meet purchase lists. It
avows air as a storage device, appearance and dissolution. Put in another way, not
everything needs to be said, to sense what another person is saying. Hyperacusis can be a muted conversation. How do you describe the sound of this image?

Part 2: Let me die and bring me back to life
Let me die, let me rest, let me pause and bring me back to life with music, love and care. Ashley explores their solo work, the cycle of resilience. That to be resilient there has to be rest and community support to keep on resisting.
Inspired by krump, hiphop and contemporary dance to communicate their rage and experience of community liberation they found through sharing stories and community care.
To look into themselves to find out why they started dancing.
