Complaints Policy

CDS recognises that we cannot always prevent harm from happening in our studios. If you’d like to speak to someone about an incident, you can visit us in the office, call us on 020 8981 6617 or contact our Director Reece McMahon (director@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk), or the Board of Trustees (theboard@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk) to initiate a conversation.

Over the next few months we will be refreshing and updating our policies. In early 2024 we will publish our Grievance and Anti-Harassment Procedure, and our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

3. Why We Collect Your Data (Purposes & Lawful Bases)

A) Responding to enquiries

Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (responding to messages sent to us).

B) Processing space hire bookings

Lawful basis: Contract (to manage your booking).

C) Sending newsletters and marketing

Lawful basis: Consent.

You can unsubscribe at any time.

D) Processing ticket purchases

Lawful basis: Contract.

Access needs: Explicit consent (special category data).

E) Processing applications for programmes

Lawful basis: Legitimate interests (running our programmes and contacting applicants).

F) Collecting optional demographic data (special category data)

Lawful basis: Explicit consent (Article 9).

Used only to monitor representation in programming.

G) Website analytics and cookies

Lawful basis:

  • Legitimate interests (essential analytics)
  • Consent (non‑essential cookies)

4. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Enquiry emails: up to 6 months after resolution
  • Mailing list data: until you unsubscribe
  • Space hire & ticketing records: 6 years (legal/audit requirements)
  • Application data: end of programme cycle + 12 months
  • Special category data: deleted immediately after monitoring/reporting is complete

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We never sell your data.

We may share data with trusted third‑party processors, such as:

  • Email newsletter platforms
  • Payment processors
  • Website hosting and analytics providers

All processors are bound by GDPR‑compliant contracts.

6. International Transfers

If any service provider transfers data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion
