REWRITE
Chisenhale Dance Space (CDS) and Dance Art Journal (DAJ) have teamed up to commission a series of opinion pieces which draw on perspectives from across our respective communities. Starting from September 2024, we will release an article event month for eight months.
These articles resist contemporary pressures to depoliticise artmaking, and cover a range of topics related to anti-oppressive practices, care, sector politics, and experimental forms of working & creation.
This series seeks to broadcast these conversations to wider audiences, and influence much needed positive change in the sector we love and exist within. Each article will be available to read for free on the DAJ website. We hope you’ll share your thoughts and add to the dialogue!

Class Lab
Class Lab is an initiative designed to give artists the boost they need to kickstart their classes or workshops. Through subsidised space hire, mentoring, and marketing support, Class Lab offers a unique opportunity for artists to develop and grow their teaching practices.
For four weeks, artists will have access to the Performance Studio on Tuesday evenings from 19:30 – 21:00 to run a class, series, or multi-part workshop. Each artist in Class Lab will receive marketing support from CDS and mentoring from our experienced staff to ensure their success.
Tickets for each class cost £8, and you can book at the link below.

Meetup Mornings
Meetup Mornings is an open time for artists to share space in our Performance Studio every Tuesday morning from 8am-10am.
It costs £2, and you can use the space to get an idea out of your head, have a boogie before work, or even meet a new collaborator. It’s (probably) the cheapest space in East London!
You might end up sharing the space with a large group of other artists, or you might have the space all to yourself! Afterwards, you are welcome to enjoy a tea or coffee in our lounge space and make use of our free WiFi.
So…see you next Tuesday!?
The space is not facilitated, and we ask that all attendees respect our accountable space principles.
