Interval: an international pause point for artists’ sustainability
We’re excited to share the outcomes of INTERVAL – a three-day retreat for artists that took place in August 2025 – including a short film by Daniel Frampton (Immanent Productions) and a zine bringing together artist reflections and images from the project. Together, these works offer a glimpse into a process grounded in pause, exchange, and collective thinking, capturing both the atmosphere of the time spent together and the questions that shaped it.
Bringing together six mid-career artists from the UK and Finland, INTERVAL offered an intentional pause within a sector shaped by precarity and constant demands for output. It prioritised trust, generosity, and process over product, creating space to take stock, share practice across borders, and imagine more sustainable ways of working.
This first iteration affirmed the value of deceleration and mutual learning—and reminded us how vital it is to make space for artists at this stage of their careers. We’re hopeful this is the beginning of many more INTERVAL’s to come. Watch this space…!
